Artisanal Cocktail Mixers are well-balanced additions to your favorite beverages. Occasionette was the first shop in Pennsylvania to sell Bittermilk mixers. These delicious mixes been an obsession of ours and a customer favorite since 2013!
We regularly stock all six of the Bittermilk flavors (and would be hard pressed to pick a favorite).
Number 1: Bourbon Barrel Old Fashioned - classic bittering agents blended with burnt sugar, spices and a bit of orange pell, aged in bourbon barrels. Stir 1 part mixer to 4 parts rye in a glass with ice.
Number 2: Toms Collins with Elderflower and Hops - a refreshing collins with floral and citrus notes. Mix equal parts gin and mixer over ice, top with soda water.
Number 3: Smoked Honey Whiskey Sour - honey smoked over whiskey staves balanced by orange and lemon peel. Mix equal parts mixer and whiskey for a whiskey sour, or tequila for a smoked honey margarita.
Number 4: New Orleans Style Old Fashioned Rouge - strong and spiced, with licorice, absinthe and bitters. One part mixer and 4 parts rye, garnish with a lemon twist.
Number 5: Charred Grapefruit Tonic with Sea Salt - lime and lemon juice with cinchona bark, the source of quinine for tonic. We peel fresh grapefruits and char the skins to help bring out bitter yet refreshing notes. Just a bit of local sea salt rounds out flavor. Works well with any light spirit. Build over ice equal parts No.5 + vodka + soda water in a tall glass, lime garnish.
Number 6: Oaxacan Old Fashioned - strong and bittersweet with Old Fashioned spices and chiles. Dried Mexican chilies, cocoa nibs and spices, sweetened with raisins and aged with cocoa husks. The Oaxacan is best mixed with mezcal, the source of inspiration for the mixer. Stir 1 part mixer to 4 parts Mezcal with ice, lime garnish.
